Before you plan around a number
Your hours are not something you or we decide. They come from the state’s assessment of the person you care for, written into their plan of care.
That means the honest answer to “how much can I earn?” is: the authorized hours, at $15 to $16 an hour. Working beyond the authorized hours cannot be paid, so never do it on a promise, and call us if you are ever asked to.
Pay is withheld and filed properly, so you get a W-2 at year end and no surprise tax bill. How caregivers get paid covers the mechanics.
