FAQ – Missouri Medicaid (MO HealthNet)

& In-Home Care for Seniors

Does MO HealthNet cover in-home care for seniors?

Yes. MO HealthNet offers programs like the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) and Personal Care Services, which provide in-home assistance to help seniors remain in their homes. Services may include personal care, housekeeping, meal preparation, and nursing services.

How do I apply for MO HealthNet and in-home care services?

You can apply:

◦Online at mydss.mo.gov

◦By phone at 855-373-9994

◦In person at your local Family Support Division (FSD) office

After applying, the Department of Health & Senior Services will assess your need for in-home services.

Who is eligible for MO HealthNet's in-home care services?

Eligibility typically requires that you:

✓ Are a Missouri resident

✓ Are aged 65 or older, blind, or have a disability

✓ Meet income and asset limits

✓ Require assistance with daily living activities

✓ Live in your own home or with family (not in a nursing facility)

What are the income and asset limits for eligibility?

As of 2025:

Income Limits:

◦ Single applicant: up to $1,109/month

◦ Married couple: up to $1,499/month

Asset Limits:

◦ Single applicant: up to $5,909.25

◦ Married couple: up to $11,818.45

These limits can vary based on specific programs and individual circumstances.

Can a family member be paid to provide care?

Yes. Through the Consumer Directed Services (CDS) program, eligible individuals can hire and manage their own caregivers, which can include certain family members (excluding spouses). This allows for more personalized care within the home.

How long does the application process take?

Processing times can vary. Generally, you should receive a decision within 45 days. If a disability determination is required, it may take longer.
